Steve Witz joined the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering (RCHE) at Purdue University in January of 2006 as the centerís first director and the St. Vincent Chair of Healthcare Engineering. RCHE is an interdisciplinary research initiative focusing research and applications of systems science to improve healthcare delivery.
Prior to this position, Dr. Witz was a healthcare administrator for 26 years in both community hospital systems and academic medical centers. During his administrative career he held responsibilities for a wide range of healthcare organizations; academic medical centers, critical access hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and multi-specialty ambulatory care facilities.
In addition to serving as a hospital administrator, Dr. Witz has held academic positions at the University of Minnesota, University of Utah, Brigham Young University, and Purdue University as a clinical professor in Health Sciences. In February 2007, he was recognized with the St. Vincent Health Chair of Healthcare Engineering from the Purdue Board of Trustees.
Dr. Witz attended the University of Minnesota earning his Bachelorís degree in Psychology and his Masterís degree in Public Health. In 1986 he completed his Doctorate in Hospital and Healthcare Administration.
