United States-Brazilian Symposium on Sustainable Bioenergy
May 15-18, 2011
Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana 47907
Registration will soon open for this symposium.
We will feature U.S. and Brazilian leaders from academia, industry and government agencies to discuss the path forward to sustainable bioenergy production. In particular, we will engage with our Brazilian colleagues to forge strong collaborations around our common goal of making bioenergy a key component of our national energy security. Plenary Sessions include:
- Feedstock genetics and genomics
- Biology and genetics of sustainability
- Lanscape Sustainability Assessment of Bioenergy Cropping Systems
- Feedstock logistics and densification
- Biochemical and thermochemical conversion pathways
- Human dimensions and the economic and policy issues for advanced biofuels
The symposium will begin Sunday evening with a reception and welcome from US and Brazilian dignitaries and a keynote lecture. Monday will be a full day of plenary lectures that cover the full range of topics. The plenary lectures will continue Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, with afternoons devoted to short lectures selected from submitted abstracts and poster sessions. We will have a second reception Monday evening and a banquet with keynote lecture on Tuesday. The Symposium will conclude Wednesday at 5pm.
Undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctorals, and young faculty are particularly encouraged to attend. Through the generous support of DOE and NSF, funds will be available for young scientists to apply for free-registration awards.
