Purpose
Enhance the understanding of wind development effects on the biota and ecosystems of the Great Lakes region, including birds, bats, fisheries and both terrestrial and aquatic habitats.

Objectives

• Provide a forum to share information on the state of research on ecological effects of wind.


• Identify research needs based on workshop discussion and in consultation with the GLWC Wind Atlas, Siting & Permitting Workgroup.


• Provide a networking opportunity for regional researchers and stakeholders.


• Develop regional project ideas and facilitate partnerships in pursuing research priorities.

Program:

A call for abstracts was issued in November 2010. More than 25 abstracts, both for oral and poster presentations, were received and have been reviewed by a committee comprised of members of the GLWC Wind Atlas, Siting & Permitting Workgroup. A draft agenda is being developed and will be available on this webpage in the near future.
