Call for Applications: U.S. Borlaug Fellows in Global Food Security Program

The Center for Global Food Security at Purdue University announces the opening of the Spring 2013 application cycle for the U.S. Borlaug Fellows in Global Food Security Program graduate research grant. This program is generously funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the aim to boost the number of future leaders and decision-makers who have the scientific base needed to effectively study and promote sustainable food systems. The grants support student research in a developing country setting in-residence at an International Agricultural Research Center (IARC), or a qualifying National Agricultural Research System (NARS) unit. The application deadline is Monday, April 1, 2013 at 5:00pm Eastern time.

Applications are also being accepted for the 2013 U.S. Borlaug Summer Institute on Global Food Security. The Summer Institute will be held on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN from Tuesday, May 28 - Saturday, June 8, 2013. The U.S. Borlaug Summer Institute on Global Food Security is a 2-week long learning program for graduate students attending U.S. institutions who are interested in developing a holistic understanding of the conceptual challenges around global food security. This introduction to global food security will provide students with a working knowledge of these issues with a focus on cross-disciplinary problem solving of real-world development challenges.  Applications are due Monday, March 4, 2013 at 5:00pm Eastern time.
