Research Overview
Purdue University has a strong history in conducting interdisciplinary research and many of our faculty have achieved national prominence in environmental science and engineering. Much of the research conducted by faculty in the Center for the Environment (C4E) falls within four initial focus areas: (1) sensory landscapes and intelligent monitoring; (2) ECO-Hub; (3) sustainable futures, and (4) technologies for cleaner air, soil, and water.
The Center helps stimulate interdisciplinary research by providing support for seed grants, a seminar series, graduate research showcase, workshops, and other synergizing activities. We provide the administrative support needed to bring together successful teams of faculty, staff, and non-university partners to delivery innovative science to government and industry needs in environmental research and development. C4E staff can help connect industry representatives with appropriate faculty and staff, coordinate multiple-investigator grant proposals, and assist in large project management.
About the Center for the Environment
The mission of the Center for the Environment is to facilitate and promote proactive, problem-driven research, learning, and outreach at Purdue focused on improving our understanding of complex environmental systems, environmental stewardship and sustainability, and addressing important environmental challenges.
