Life Sciences Business Plan Competition

Participants and Eligibility

The Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition targets US-based start-up business entities in the life sciences arena. The business entity must be no more than three years old and have an employment of less than 10 full-time employees (or less than an equivalent of 10 full time employees).

Participating teams must:

• Be employees and solely represent a legal business entity founded and operating in the United States or its territories (teams will be required to certify their business entity status);
• Evidence that the business plan stems from research conducted at a college or university, which would include teaching hospitals and research laboratories;
• Certify that the team/company owns or has rights to license/use its proposed technology;
• Have no agreement with third parties on patented intellectual property;

A team that has finished in one of the top three places in a previous business plan competition, regardless of who hosted the competition, is not eligible to compete in the Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition.

Only one entry per team will be allowed. Individuals may not be a member of more than one team.

Submitted business plans must:

• Feature products or services in the life sciences arena;
• Feature products or services that are commercially viable.

Any team or individual that violates and/or fails to comply with the language, spirit, and intent of these rules will be disqualified and any prize money forfeited. The organizers of the Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition reserve the right to disqualify teams and/or individuals based on the above criteria and shall be held harmless due to such action.
