The Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition will comprise three distinct phases. In the first phase - called the Executive Summary phase, interested participants will register, and once approved, submit a three page Executive Summary. A panel of judges will screen the executive summaries based on commercial, technical, financial, and management team viability. The top executive summaries based on the judges' feedback will be selected as semi-finalists.
In the second phase called the Business Plan phase, semi-finalists will be tasked with submitting a business plan consisting of 30 pages or less. The panel of judges will evaluate the submitted business plans on the criteria of commercial, technical, financial, and management team viability and select eight finalists.
In the third phase of the competition called the Presentation phase, each of the finalist teams will travel to Purdue's West Lafayette campus to make live twenty minutes presentations to the judges followed by a twenty minute questions and answers period. Immediately following all presentations, the judges will deliberate and then meet individually with each team to provide individual team feedback. After the feedback sessions, an Awards Reception and Dinner will be held to announce the placing of the finalist teams. The team deemed by the judges as the best business plan proposal and presentation will receive the grand prize.
