Frontiers in Entrepreneurship @ Purdue
As the Avrum and Joyce Gray Director of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship (BDMCE), I am pleased to say that entrepreneurship is flourishing and becoming even more central to the mission of Purdue University. While many faculty, staff, students and alumni are playing active roles in the advancement of entrepreneurship at Purdue, the Burton D. Morgan Center has certainly become a major force in this exciting progress.
The BDMCE is the home of significant business plan competitions, a Student Managed Venture Fund course, graduate student startup consultants, faculty entrepreneurship leadership academy, graduate-level entrepreneurship courses, and other programs aimed at helping foster the understanding and application of entrepreneurship. The BDMCE is also pleased to be a partner with the University in offering the immensely successful undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program.
As BDMCE director, I have been involved in the chairperson’s role for several major University initiatives to help increase the scale and speed of commercializing Purdue’s impressive array of intellectual property. The recent establishment of the Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC) is one such promising initiative. All this would not be possible without the enormous generosity of the Burton D. Morgan Foundation in Hudson, Ohio.
The Burton D. Morgan Foundation has supported entrepreneurship at Purdue since the early 1980s. This invaluable support includes the endowment for the Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition, which celebrated its 25th anniversary at Purdue this year. The foundation funds the state-of-the-art Burton D. Morgan Center building located in Purdue’s Discovery Park as well.
Come visit … the welcome mat is always out.
