In 2 minutes or less convince a panel of judges of the value of your business idea!

 

Two Competition Categories:

  • Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program Undergraduate Students
  • Practicing entrepreneurs from Purdue Research Park, Faculty, Graduate Students or Certificate Program Alums

 

Prizes in Each Category:

1st place: $1,000
2nd place: $500 
3rd place: $250
T-shirts for all participants

Friday April 6, 2012 from 2-5 pm, Awards and Reception to follow
Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, Room 121

 

Registration:

Registration has closed. 

 

Competition Guidelines & Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to teams or individuals.
  • Individuals can enter the competition each year but cannot pitch the same business venture if that has placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in years prior.
  • At least one team member in the undergraduate division must be currently enrolled or previously enrolled in an ENTR-designated class. All students must be currently enrolled at Purdue.

 

What is an Elevator Pitch?

An elevator pitch is a concise and well practiced description of a business venture that you would deliver if you found yourself in an elevator with a potential investor. In 1-2 minutes, the pitch should describe:

  • Your product or service
  • Your market and its size
  • How you plan to make money
  • Your leadership team
  • Your competition
  • Your competitive advantage

The Young Entrepreneur Program

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is promoting a program to assist young entrepreneurs to make their business plans become a reality in Indiana. The IEDC will work with local and regional communities to offer incentives to the young entrepreneurs with the best business plans such as free rent, grants, loans, utility support, etc in exchange for the location of their startup business to be in the community. Eligible students must be pursing or received a major, minor or certificate in an entrepreneurial program within Indiana.
