Future Opportunities in Nuclear Power

The two-day event will (1) discuss knowledge gaps, challenges and opportunities in nuclear power, (2) showcase/poster session ‘Nuclear Energy Research at Purdue,’ and (3) identify interdisciplinary collaborations. The event will consist of a public lecture, a technical  keynote inauguration lecture, and a research workshop.

Five panel sessions include:

•Advances in Nuclear Fuel/Materials
•Advances in Reactor Concepts/Next Generation of Reactors
•Advances in Radiation Detection and Monitoring
•Industry Perspective - Research and Technical Challenges in Nuclear Power
•Interdisciplinary Research Collaborations

Discovery Lecture Series Speaker - Nuclear Power: Past, Present, and Future by Sal Golub, Associate Deputy Secretary for Nuclear Technologies, U.S. Department of Energy

Technical Keynote Inauguration Speaker - Research/technical challenges, opportunities for advanced nuclear energy systems in the 21st Century by Phillip Finck, Chief Scientist, Idaho National Laboratory, Idaho Fall, Idaho

Poster Participants: Poster session will be from 4:00 -6:30 PM in the Loeb Atrium in STEW. You may bring your poster at 3:00 pm. Please remove your posters following the session. Posters should be 3' wide x 4' high.

Parking: Event parking will be available behind the Birck Nanotechnology Building. Turn South on Martin Jischke to Nimitz Dr, first right off the round-about. Take a Right on Nimitz. Proceed through first stop sign and take a right at the stop sign for Marshall Drive. Enter the parking lot on the left. Please park where there are barricades with signs.“No Parking Police Orders”.
