“As Indiana’s leading electric supplier, Duke Energy strongly encourages initiatives to increase education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are proud to partner with Purdue University as they build on the success of last year’s Purdue Energy Camp.” -Doug Esamann President, Duke Energy, Indiana
“I just wanted to thank the staff at Purdue as well as Duke Energy and the other sponsors for all the planning, organization, and expense that went in to making this academy possible. My son really enjoyed this experience. It was his first time being away from home; we live five hours away, so he was a bit homesick the first two days. As soon as we got home though, he began to "google" college engineering programs. He had a challenging educational opportunity of a lifetime, plus he made some good friends. He mentioned that the lectures were stimulating, and he has developed new interests particularly in the subjects of nanotechnology and nuclear engineering. He also mentioned that he may be interested in teaching at a university someday.
I enjoyed keeping up with their daily activities and seeing the pictures on the Facebook site.
Thank you again for this opportunity!!” - mother of 2013 participant
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend the Energy Academy this year. It was a great experience, learning about the different types of energy and developing friendships with students from around the state. I really enjoyed some of the talks, especially Jim Rogers' and Dr. Agrawal's, and loved doing the hands-on activities. Carrying out the biodiesel project was one of the highlights of the week. Also, the counselors were fantastic, talking to us about what they're doing at Purdue, getting to know us, and making sure we were having a good time. I'm strongly encouraging my brother to apply for it next year. Thank you for all that you have done” - 2013 Student participant
