Applications to the Summer 2014 program are now CLOSED

The Duke Energy Academy at Purdue is excited about your interest in attending our program in the summer of 2014! Through this academy, a select number of high school students and teachers with interest in energy will be provided an opportunity to learn from Purdue faculty, staff, and industry leaders who are directly involved in researching and developing the energy resources needed to power the world of tomorrow. For now, the academy is open only to students who will be a junior or senior by fall 2014 and secondary school teachers, resident in the United States. Participants from previous programs will not be accepted. Participation is provided free of charge to the 42 participating students and 42 teachers. Teachers also will receive a $400 stipend.

Students

This application requires you to supply personal, parental, and school information (including Principal's contact); respond to an essay question; and provide a teacher reference from your school (contact details only).

This year's essay question is:

  • Why would you like to be a part of the Duke Energy Academy in the summer of 2014 and what are your expectations from the academy? (2000 characters maximum).

You can write the essay in a word processing program then copy and paste it into this application.

* Please ensure you the have required information ready and your essay prepared before you begin as you will not be able to save your application once started.

Teachers

This application requires you to supply personal and school information (including Principal's contact); and respond to two essay questions.

This year's essay questions are:

  • Why would you like to be a part of the Duke Energy Academy in the summer of 2014 and what are your expectations from the academy? (2000 characters maximum).
  • How do you plan to incorporate information from the Duke Energy Aademy into your academic activities? (1000 characters maximum).

You can write the essays in a word processing program then copy and paste it into this application.
