Benefit to participants:

• Participants will have the opportunity to learn directly from academics and industry leaders in the energy field.
• Students will have the opportunity to experience college life.
• Participants will attend the academy free of charge, plus teachers will be paid a stipend of $400.

What's next?

Based on the feedbacks from our participants this year and continued support from our major sponsor, Duke Energy Indiana, our 2014 program promises to be bigger and better.

We will be modifying the program to accomodate more participants; more hands-on activities; more resources for students and teachers amongst others.

From Duke Energy Indiana President

Doug Esamann

“As Indiana’s leading electric supplier, Duke Energy strongly encourages initiatives to increase education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We are proud to partner with Purdue University as they build on the success of last year’s Purdue Energy Camp.” -Doug Esamann

From previous participants

William Mbongo"…I now know the complexity of the field of energy and the multitude of creative ideas scientists have and their approach to bringing those ideas to reality. It's a great learning experience, it will change the way you think about the world. It is that in the future I will be a leader of a major company that will supply the world with energy!"

-2012 Student Participant.

Becky Stiller"…It renewed my exitement about energy. I Loved the nuclear discussion! I liked all of the types of energy presented. I have improved my present lesson plans to include some new ideas and activities about energy. This is a great idea, I hope it continues! The camp has so much potential."

-Becky Stiller,

Teacher, Roosevelt Middle School/Twin Lakes School Corp, Monticello, IN.

Merindy Carpenter"…I enjoyed the tours, especially the water treatment facility, the power plant and the nuclear reactor. This is a unique opportunity to gain insights from industry leaders."

Thank you for this opportunity!

-Merindy Carpenter,
