Dr. Steve Pekarek received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1996. From 1997-2004 Dr. Pekarek was an Assistant (Associate) Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR). While at UMR, he received six outstanding teaching commendations and four faculty excellence awards. He is presently an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University and is a co-director of the Energy Systems Analysis Consortium. As a faculty member, he has been the principal investigator on a number of successful research programs including projects for the Navy, Airforce, Ford Motor Co., Motorola, and Delphi Automotive Systems. The primary focus of these investigations has been the analysis and design power electronic based architectures for finite inertia power and propulsion systems. He is an active member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society, the Society of Automotive Engineers, the IEEE Power Electronics Society, and Chairman of the 2005 International Future Energy Challenge.
Expertise: Analysis, design, and control of electric machines, power electronics, and power electronic based systems.
