U.S.-China Ecopartnership for Environmental Sustainability - USCEES

American Chemical Society Presidential Symposium and Workshop

September 9 - Indianapolis, Indiana

American Chemical Society Presidential Symposium and Workshop on Opportunities and Challenges of U.S.-China Intellectual Property Agreements  was held at the 246th ACS National Meeting & Exposition. Leaders from pharmaceutical and aluminum industry and the legal profession from both the U.S. and China discussed the opportunities and challenges of the U.S.-China Intellectual Property.

Session Description:Efforts to promote and strengthen intellectual property agreements between U.S. and Chinese businesses and entrepreneurs are at the heart of recent U.S-China government strategic and economic dialogues. The two countries have worked for decades to establish programs and protocols that promote open trade and investment, enhance international rules and foster financial market stability. U.S. companies seeking to commercialize their technologies or develop a winning strategy in China need a realistic assessment of IP protection in China. Chinese firms eager to access foreign innovation and protect their own discoveries globally increasingly realize the importance of international IP protection. This session will bring together experts and seek contributions from those engaged in U.S. and Chinese law, business, and regulation to discuss practical ways U.S. and Chinese companies, entrepreneurs, and academic researchers can better address the opportunities and challenges of mutual technology development, collaboration and commercialization.
