Director visits House of Lords

On September 11, 2009, Professor Ahmed K. Elmagarmid was invited to spend a day at the House of Lords at the invitation of Lord Redesdale who heads the climate change committee for the upper house. During the visit Prof. Elmagarmid received a personal tour of both chambers of the house as well as engaging in substantive discussions about the role that Green Computing and Cloud computing can play in environmental responsibility. The visit included a lunch at the private restaurant used by the Lords. While there Prof. Elmagarmid explained the Discovery Park model and its sustainability efforts involving climate change, environment and energy.

CS Graduate Research Student Shagufta Mehnaz is among the elite selected to participate in the Faculty for the Future Fellowship awarded by the Schlumberger Foundation. Mehnaz was one of only 155 fellowships given by the Foundation, selected from more than 1100 applications that were received from women in 17 different countries.Read Full Story
