April 10, 2014
A research paper co-authored by Professor Bertino, director of Cyber Center, has been presented at the ICDE 2014 Conference held in Chicago on March 31-April 3, 2014.
The paper reports some ground breaking research techniques supporting privacy-preserving k nearest neighbor (kNN) queries based on the current location of the user.
The technique is the first one to support not only user privacy, so that the location server cannot learn the user location, but also data confidentiality, so that the user in only disclosed the query results and no additional data is disclosed.
