Computer Science Professor joins Cyber Center

The Cyber Center in Purdue's Discovery Park is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Luo Si to the position of Scientific Director of Information Integration and Retrieval. In this role, Dr. Si will further enable the Cyber Center’s mission of Enabling Discovery through Data. Dr. Si is an assistant professor in Computer Science and Statistics (by courtesy) at Purdue University. His research interests include information retrieval, machine learning, intelligent tutoring, text/data mining for life sciences, and natural language processing, resulting in more than 80 publications. He is an associate editor of ACM Transactions on Information Systems (TOIS) and an editorial board member of Information Processing and Management (IPM). Dr. Si has served as an Area Chair for conferences including the ACM Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval (SIGIR), World Wide Web (WWW) and ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM). He was awarded the NSF Career Award in 2008 and his Ph.D. degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006.

Cyber Center Researchers received the best paper award at the 8th International Conference on Network and System Security (NSS 2014). The paper, co-authored by Hasini Gunasinghe and Elisa Bertino (director of Cyber Center) and titled " Privacy Preserving Biometrics-Based and User Centric Authentication Protocol", proposes a novel privacy preserving biometrics-based authentication protocol by which users can authenticate to different service providers from their own devices without involving identity providers in the transactions.Read Full Story
