Purdue Climate Change Research Center

Lit Club

Welcome back to campus.

We are excited about the PCCRC lit club for the fall semester. The weekly seminar will be held in RAWLS 1011 on Fridays from 3:30-4:45pm.

Graduate students may attend this seminar for credit.

Please use the following course numbers: 54143-EAS or 54144-AGRY.

Please join us at 3:30pm in Rawls 1011 for a semester of thinking and discussion about how climate change effects and interacts with the water cycle, and the implications of these processes for living things.  Matt Huber will kick-off the semester with: “Global Warming: It’s not the Heat, it’s the Humidity”.

This year's Lit Club reflects a collaborative merger of the Purdue Climate Change Research Center and Purdue Water Community literature clubs for the fall semester.  The seminar will be organized around the physical, biological, and societal dimensions of the water and climate problem, and will encourage the broad participation of graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty from across campus.  We are also offering the Lit Club as a 1-credit weekly seminar series.  In addition to student registration and attendance we encourage faculty and postdocs to participate in this opportunity to review research at the intersection of water cycle and climate change, consider Purdue’s strengths and weaknesses in this area, and further develop our collective thinking about these system critical to global sustainability.  We anticipate that this effort will be a launching pad for new collaborations and research within and beyond the Purdue community.

The format will be approximately ¾ lectures, delivered by a wide range of Purdue and off-campus researchers, and ¼ discussion and synthesis sessions, which will provide a venue for reflecting on and integrating information from speaker presentations and thinking creatively about research trends and opportunities.

After the weekly seminars we will be providing a less formal venue to continue this discussion over adult beverages – join us for drinks and light snacks at the Bowen home from 5 – 7pm (1550 Marilyn Ave., West Lafayette).  Families are welcome.
