Biography

Dr. Freeman’s research interests are in investigating the molecular mechanisms that underlie the adverse effects of environmental stressors on human health. Current ongoing research efforts are focused on the immediate and lifespan impacts of a developmental exposure to various chemicals and implications on disease onset. This work utilizes the zebrafish vertebrate model system as similarities between the zebrafish and human genome permits investigation into the genes altered for identification of genetic biomarkers for translation to human health impacts.
