This program focuses on the biology of pathogens and the host response, with the goal to develop intervention strategies that reduce the virulence and life span of pathogens, and that enhance the immune response. These strategies include the development of novel antimicrobials and vaccines.

Ecology of Pathogens

This program focuses on the biology of vectors, life cycle of pathogens and changes in the environment that lead to increased pathogen exposure. The goal is the develop intervention strategies that reduce pathogen exposure.

Diagnostics and Health Care Delivery

This program focuses on the development of new diagnostics for early detection and disease monitoring, and on improvements in health care delivery.
