- Students that fail to meet the GPA standards will be allowed a one-time only probationary term in which to bring the grade back up to the minimum – if the probationary term is used at another institution, it may not be repeated at another
- Students that do not meet the minimum GPA requirement, but later bring the GPA back up may be considered for state aid in the following term, however, if at any time they fall below the minimum again, they will have lost their eligibility permanently
- For transfer students, the transfer school is responsible for obtaining the student’s cumulative GPA from the former school and using it to determine whether the student has met the standards
- SSACI plans to publish appeal guidelines for GPA status and will post them on their website for students
- All recipients will be allowed 8 years from the first time they utilize state aid in order to exhaust their 8 semesters of eligibility – after 8 years, their eligibility expires, even if they have only used state aid in one semester during that period
- While legislation changed to allow students to use these forms of state aid in a maximum of two summer terms beginning in 2012, there are no funds available to support the change at this time.
