Indiana 21st Century Scholar Award

Type of Aid: Grant for students that qualified and initially pledged to the program in the 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Learn how to qualify and apply.

Source of Funds: State of Indiana. Administered by the Division of Student Financial Aid (SFA), formerly known as the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI).

Eligibility Criteria: Indiana resident, full-time enrollment, satisfactory academic progress, and minimum GPA requirements. This grant is available to students seeking their first Bachelor’s degree.

Application Form(s) Required: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Application Procedures: File FAFSA/Renewal

Application Deadline: The deadline for the federal processor to receive the FAFSA is March 10.  SFA deadline to clear outstanding information requests, or edits, is May 15.

Amount of Award: Up to tuition minus other fee-dedicated aid (i.e. SSACI Higher Education Grant, Staff Dependent Fee Remission, etc.) The scholarship pays to a maximum of 15 hours per term at hourly rate schools and does not cover special or differential fees.

Period of Eligibility: Maximum of eight semesters. This grant is not available for use in summer sessions.

Appeal Procedures: Students who have been denied the 21st Century Scholarship may appeal that decision with the Indiana SFA.
