Updated 2009-10 Purdue Award Notice Information
Dear Purdue Students:
Division of Financial Aid staff members have worked hard to adjust the financial aid eligibility of over 20,000 aid applicants during a short time frame in July after fees and state aid awards were set. We hope to alleviate phone calls and inquiries by encouraging families to read our website news items and closely follow any action steps noted below.
Sincerely,
Joyce Hall, Executive Director, Division of Financial Aid
Purdue Financial Aid Steps
To receive financial aid eligibility, the student must apply for aid and submit all verification information requested via the myPurdue system. Students with complete financial aid files should receive financial aid eligibility that will show in the myPurdue system, but see important steps here to finalize financial aid eligibility:
- Be sure to accept (or reject) student loan and work-study aid eligibility via the online Financial Aid Self Service system at http://mypurdue.purdue.edu. Note that acceptance is required if a student wants a Federal Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, Purdue Loan, Health Professions Loan, or Grad PLUS loan to be credited on Bursar billings.
- Creditworthy parents interested in applying for a Federal PLUS Loan should review a PLUS fact sheet and submit a Parent PLUS Loan Request Form to the Division of Financial Aid. Note that parent PLUS loans need to be processed by DFA before being credited on Bursar billings.
- If not already on file, student and parent borrowers must sign a master promissory note for Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS loans, and Grad PLUS loans at www.dlenote.ed.gov.
- First time Stafford Loan borrowers must complete Entrance Loan Counseling at www.dl.ed.gov
- Students who have been offered and accepted Perkins Loan, Purdue Loan, and Health Professions Loan should receive instructions to sign a master promissory note at www.ecsi.net/prom3P.
- Students are required to report any private scholarships or other sources of financial aid to the Division of Financial Aid by completing a form available at www.purdue.edu/dfa/sandg/reporting.php.
- Students who are not planning to enroll full time for both the Fall 2009 term and Spring 2010 term should complete a 2009-10 Enrollment Plans Form.
- Students and parents should review important Purdue Financial Aid Terms and Conditions.
If any questions, financial aid counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by telephone (765-494-0998) or in person (Schleman Hall Room 305); an email inquiry service is also available for use.
