CLIENT IDENTIFICATION POLICY

The Division of Financial Aid has a responsibility to safeguard information provided to us by students and parents according to Federal law.  Toward that effort, we have recently strengthened our Client Identification Policy.   What that means to you is that when you call, email, or come into the office you may be asked for additional information that will help us to identify you. Specifically, parents of dependent students seeking information about their student’s account will need to provide the student’s Purdue University ID number.  Additionally, parents will need to use the email account that they provided on their student’s FAFSA application and include the student’s name and Purdue ID number when requesting an email reply. Read our complete privacy policy at https://www.purdue.edu/dfa/privacy.php.

EMAIL

An email inquiry service is available for your convenience. Most financial aid questions submitted via email are answered within 24-48 hours (between 8 am – 5 pm, excluding weekends and holidays). Our email address is facontact@purdue.eduif you prefer to send a direct email instead of utilizing our online service. We recommend that you phone or visit if your question is urgent.

CALL CENTER

Specific and personal questions can be answered by our highly trained financial aid counselors by calling (765) 494-5050. Due to the significant volume of calls we receive, an automated attendant answers calls at this number and distributes them to the first available counselor from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. During some months of the year our call volume is very high (April, July and August) and you may find that our phone lines are frequently busy. During this period you may find it more convenient to utilize our Email Inquiry Service.

WALK-IN COUNSELING

If you visit the DFA office, Schleman Hall of Student Services Room 305, you will be assisted by one of our highly trained financial aid counselors at the front desk. The counselor may refer you to an aid administrator for more in-depth counseling in a private office.  Reception desk counseling service is available between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Schleman Hall of Student Services (SCHL) building is targeted on the map below. Refer to the Purdue Campus Map for help.
