Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) create a framework to protect the privacy and security of patient and health plan member health information. Purdue supports the goals of HIPAA and HITECH and documents its commitment to comply in its “Compliance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations” policy.
