Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) creates a framework to protect the privacy and security of individuals’ health information as it is used and disclosed by covered health care providers, covered health plans and their business associates and subcontractors. Purdue supports the goals of HIPAA and documents its commitment to comply in its “Compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations” policy.
