2011 Summer Aid Application

SUMMER FINANCIAL AID BASICS
- Certain types of federal aid require at least half-time enrollment (6 hours undergraduate, 4 hours graduate).
- The 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed and complete in order to receive aid for summer (except for private college educational loans).
- If you drop hours at any time during the summer sessions, your aid may be adjusted and you may receive a bill.
- Notify the Division of Financial Aid if you decide to cancel this application.
- Seniors in Veterinary Medicine and Doctor of Pharmacy are not required to complete the summer aid application.
REQUIRED ENROLLMENT
- At least half-time summer enrollment is required for Grant Aid (other than Pell Grant and Child of Disabled Veteran Fee Remission), Perkins loan, Purdue loan, Workstudy, and Stafford/PLUS loans.
- For undergraduates, full-time enrollment is 12 hours or more; 6 credits hours for half-time.
- For graduate students, full-time enrollment is 8 credit hours or more; 4 credit hours for half-time.
- Private loans may be available to students enrolled less than half-time.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- All students must have the following documents on file before summer aid can be processed:
- A 2010-2011 FAFSA. The federal processor must receive your 2010-2011 FAFSA no later than June 30, 2011.
- Any documents required to complete your 2010-2011 FAFSA file. The Division of Financial aid will notify you of any necessary documents, such as a student tax return or parent tax return. Do NOT submit information unless requested to do so by our office.
- The 2011 summer financial aid application (available in early January 2011 on this website)
PELL GRANT INFORMATION
- Eligibility for a summer 2011 Pell Grant will be calculated based on any unused Pell Grant remaining from the 2010-11 academic year. If you are Pell Grant-eligible, have used all your eligiblity, but have completed at least 24 credit hours in the 10-11 academic year, you may be eligible to receive additional Pell Grant for summer.
- Stafford loans borrowed during the summer are contingent upon your summer grade level. Your summer financial aid eligibility notice will estimate your loan eligibility and outline any other sources of aid available.
- A parent PLUS loan application must be submitted at www.studentloans.gov before we can certify parent PLUS loan eligiblity for summer 2011.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- You must meet satisfactory academic progress standards to be eligible for financial aid; for questions review Purdue Standards of Academic Progress policy.
- In order to receive summer aid, you must be attending classes. If you cease to attend classes, your aid will be adjusted to reflect your eligibility based on the last date of attendance. You may be billed for all or a portion of your aid based on the last date you attended class
