Apply for Aid 2010-11

ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-11

To apply for federal, state, and Purdue University student aid programs for Fall 2010, Spring 2011, and Summer 2011 terms, you must complete the 2010-11 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be filed annually to be considered for aid annually. You will need 2009 income information. The Purdue University, West Lafayette, Federal School Code is 001825.

WHEN TO FILE

The 2010-11 FAFSA will be available on January 1, 2010. March 1, 2010 is the FAFSA priority filing date for the 2010-11 academic year. Students may file the FAFSA after March 1 and still qualify for most federal aid programs, but will not qualify for need-based financial aid from Purdue. In addition, the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana requires that FAFSA information be received by a March 10 deadline to qualify for most state aid programs.

FAFSA ON THE WEB APPLICATION

The Division of Financial Aid recommends you complete the FAFSA on the Web application via the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Internet computers are available at most high schools, local libraries, and the Division of Financial Aid in Schleman Hall, Rooms 302 and 305.

To talk to someone about filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) go to www.fafsa.ed.gov/help/cs.htm and you can chat live with the FAFSA processor.

FAFSA on the Web filing is made a bit easier if students and parents obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the Department of Education, which can be used as an "electronic signature." Students and parents may obtain a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Students/families may still file the FAFSA on the Web without a PIN, but must print and mail a paper signature page to a federal processor.

If you have technical questions about FAFSA on the Web, please call (800) 433-3242.

The Division of Financial Aid recommends printing the FAFSA on the Web Submission Confirmation page as proof of completion.
