Follow Your Passion
Rebecca has a passion for the environment. Not for sitting inside all day.
“I used to think engineers just sat in a lab solving math problems all day. That wasn’t for me — I love being outside.”
But, with the help of another girl from her hometown, Rebecca realized that engineering could be way more than that. Way more.
“You don’t have to sit in a lab doing research all day if you don’t want to. You can truly do exactly what you want as an engineer. Once, I even got to spend the day floating down a stream on a kayak taking samples of the water!
Set Yourself Apart
“Being a girl in the field of engineering definitely has its advantages. Sure, you might have people tell you that you can’t do it — but don’t let that bother you. If you are doing what you love, then you will be successful, no matter what.”
- Canoeing (known as “floating” in her home state of Arkansas)
- Playing with her cats
- Spending time with her boyfriend (“Yes, there’s still time for a boyfriend outside of school!”)
