"Unmanned Aircraft Systems—Is the Sky Really Falling?"

Thursday, September 24

STEW 206: 3:00 - 4:00 PM

The introduction of small flying systems has become popular and even ubiquitous. There is easy access due to low cost and availability to anyone. Many companies, such as Amazon, plan to use them in their day to day operations. The positive aspects of these systems is easy to see, but there is also a potential threat to the safety, security and well-being of the general population. What are the real annoyances, risks, threats and dangers of this technology? How will UAS effect the daily lives of people around the world. In this seminar the positive and negative aspects of this new, expanding technology will be examined.

Bio: Eric Matson is interested in the research areas of software engineering and development, sensors, sensor networks, robotics, artificial intelligence and its applications. While all of these areas are quite broad, He is interested and primarily focused on the intersection of these technologies.
