The Center for Career Opportunities will provide effective
employment support and outstanding career development services that
positively influence life-long career transitions among Purdue University
students and graduates. The Center will be globally recognized as
a leader among career centers.
Highlights
- The decrease in the percentage of organizations interviewing
through the CCO this year, compared to the 00-01 academic year,
parallels the national average of -36% reported by the National
Association of Colleges and Employers. These decreases are due
in large part to the softening national economy.
- Based on the large number of employers that recruit at the
Purdue University Center for Career Opportunities each year, the
CCO’s campus interviewing program ranks among the five largest
within university career centers in the United States.
- During the 2001-2002 academic year, 11,406 students entered
their resumes electronically for full-time and internship positions.
This number of student registrants surpassed last year’s
adjusted total of 7,805 by 46.14%, which represents both the highest
percentage increase and highest annual numbers of registrants
at the CCO. This increase in student registrants was due in part
to the merger of the Career Resources Center with the Center for
Career Opportunities in August 2001, and in part to an aggressive
student awareness campaign conducted by the CCO.
