We are pleased to present the seventh edition of the Purdue University Data Digest. This year's Digest continues to provide quick and easy access to a wide variety of official data for the West Lafayette campus, the regional campuses, and Purdue system-wide. It has become an essential resource for those on and off campus.
In addition to the annual report on the progress Purdue University is making toward its Strategic Plan goals of Learning, Discovery, and Engagement, the Data Digest continues to bring you the most current student, faculty and staff, financial, and other data that are available at the time of publication.
The 2006-07 Data Digest has expanded coverage to include two new areas - Purdue's economic impact in the state of Indiana and system-wide retention. As one of the largest employers in the state, Purdue system-wide had an estimated economic impact on Indiana of more than $2.9 billion in fiscal year 2004-05 while the state invested $359 million in Purdue. We have recently developed a reporting system that allows tracking of students who transfer to and complete a degree at a different Purdue campus from the one in which they originally enrolled. The ability to do this system-wide tracking of graduates provides a more comprehensive view of student success as measured by the retention and graduation rates.
It is our hope that you will find this edition of the Data Digest to be a valuable resource for information about Purdue University.
