Tapping into the power of Castlight

As health care costs continue to rise, so does the importance of being a good health care consumer. Purdue’s new service, Castlight, aids in that goal by allowing Purdue employees – as well as spouses/same-sex domestic partners and adult dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan – to compare prices and read patient reviews for health care providers and medical services.
Rich Wells was an early adopter, enrolling as soon as he learned of Castlight’s availability.
“The information provided with the invitation made it sound like a useful tool, and I am always looking for new options to help simplify tracking my medical plan,” he says.
Rich’s first experience with Castlight found him using the “Past Care” feature to review his family’s medical expenses to date in 2012. He found the information he needed, thanks to Castlight’s user-friendly layout. He even got to test Castlight’s customer service – and was pleasantly surprised.
“I did have one question about our 2012 Claims Summary,” he recalls. “Castlight responded and answered my question promptly.”
For Rich, Castlight has lived up to the usefulness promised in the promotional materials he received: “Castlight provides an accurate and easy to understand explanation of my medical plan and usage. I’m impressed by the charts and graphs they provide that help me track expenses. Three calendar years’ worth of medical claims is available, and that’s a real plus.”
