Top six reasons to enroll
1. Sign up for your selected medical plan. With lots of changes for 2013, think through your options carefully.
2. Certify whether or not you use tobacco. $500 to $1,000 is at stake. See "What’s new for 2013" in this newsletter for more information.
3. List your term life insurance beneficiaries in EBenefits. Don’t let your life insurance benefit be paid to the wrong person. See the “What’s new for 2013” article for details.
4. Switch your existing health savings account (HSA) from Chase to PayFlex. If you don’t approve the transfer, you’ll be responsible for service charges on the Chase account, beginning January 2013.
5. Add contributions to your HSA. You’ll have the University’s contributions, but that’s all.
6. Put money for 2013 into a flexible spending account. If you don’t enroll, you’ll have no employee contributions in health care, dependent care or limited purpose FSAs.

Center for Healthy Living
Opening in 2013, the on-site employee health center will provide convenience – no need to drive across town for care – and pricing that will be hard to beat.
- Preventive care will be provided at no charge for participants on Purdue Choice Fund, Purdue Incentive and Purdue Copay medical plans.
- Primary and acute care will be provided for a $10 copay for participants on Purdue Incentive and Purdue Copay.
- Purdue Choice Fund participants will pay “fair market value” for primary and acute care, due to regulations governing high-deductible medical plans.
The center’s other services will be available to all benefits-eligible employees, regardless of medical plan participation. Visit www.purdue.edu/healthyliving for more details.

Additional premium for tobacco users increases to $500
Cessation programs available on all campuses
The tobacco-user additional premium will increase to $500 per person in January 2013.
Employees will certify their tobacco-user status and that of their covered spouses/same-sex domestic partners during open enrollment. Those covered by a Purdue medical plan who do not certify their status will be considered a tobacco user and will be charged the $500 additional premium in 2013.
To qualify as a non-tobacco user and avoid the additional premium, a person must have been a non-tobacco user for at least 12 months immediately prior to completing the 2013 benefits enrollment.
