LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A group of Chinese scholars from The Carter Center in Atlanta stopped by the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds on Election Day to see "democracy in action."
Yawei Liu, director of the China Program, said in their country, the group has heard how democracy doesn't work. Liu said getting to see the voting process for themselves will help the scholars make up their own minds. They took video and photos of the vote center and asked several questions.
Tippecanoe County Clerk Christa Coffey spoke to the group about how vote centers operate versus precincts.
There was also a group of media members broadcasting over the internet back to China about the experience. The group will return to China in a few days. The scholars had previous met with Governor Mitch Daniels during their trip.
