The opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition Strangers No More: Village Churches on the Good Earth of the Sacred Land was held on September 2, 2010. Artist CAO Yuanming from Shanghai University gave a lecture on "Village Churches in Central China" at the opening ceremony. Professor Alice Wang from the Department of Foreign Language and Literature, served as the interpretor. Over 50 people attended this event. Craig Martin, the Director of the Purdue Galleries hosted the ceremony. Mohan Dutta, the Associate Dean of College of Liberal Arts, Bert Useem, the Head of Sociology Department, and Fenggang Yang, the Director of Center on Religion and Chinese Society gave opening remarks. The Indiana State Representitive Sheila Klinker also attended the ceremony. A choir from the Greater Lafayette Chinese Alliance Church performed some hymns and Chinese popular tunes.
