Jazz stars don’t get much brighter than this. One of America’s greatest musicians, Wynton Marsalis, brings the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra to Purdue for a stellar evening of swinging big band music. A Pulitzer Prize–winning composer, trumpet player, band leader, and a nine-time Grammy-winning artist with over 45 classical and jazz albums to his name, Marsalis is the most visible proponent of jazz in the world today. In 1987, he co-founded the jazz program at Lincoln Center and today serves as the artistic director of JLCO, which comprises 15 of today’s finest jazz soloists and ensemble players. With exceptional precision and flair, the group performs from a vast repertoire that regularly features rare historic compositions as well as commissioned works, including compositions and arrangements by Count Basie, John Coltrane, Benny Goodman, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and many others.
