How are seats assigned?
In the advanced sales period (summer), Friends of Convocations are seated first according to the Priority Points System. Friends’ orders must be received by June 16, 2008, in order to be eligible for priority seating. Click here to learn more about Friends of Convocations and the Priority Points System. All other orders are processed in the order they are received, so it is to your benefit to order early. After August 11, all patrons will be given the best available seats on date of purchase. Campus box office staff can assist patrons with their seat options.
Why do Friends of Convocations get priority seating?
Like most arts organizations that depend upon private support to bring artists to the stage, we provide donors with benefits and privileges as a way to encourage giving and thank those who help us keep ticket prices at a reasonable level for all patrons. While we depend upon and are thankful for gifts of all sizes, we offer benefits that increase with the generosity of the gift. See the Friends of Convocations page for more information about donor benefits.
How much are the fees and handling charges on my order?
For regular season performances, there is a $1 box office fee included in the ticket price. Fees vary for special events added later in the season, usually ranging from $1-3 per ticket. The prices you see on this web site and order form are the final price for tickets purchased through the Purdue box office. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will have additional Ticketmaster fees.
When will I receive my tickets?
Due to the volume of orders received during the advanced sales period (May 9 - August 8, 2008), tickets will not be mailed until mid-August. All other tickets ordered over the phone are generally mailed within 24 hours of the order.
I can’t go to the show. Can I get a refund or exchange?
We are unable to issue refunds or exchange tickets. If you are unable to attend a show, consider one of the following options:
• Return series and Pick 5 tickets to the box office 48 hours prior to the show and receive credit for a tax-deductible donation. IRS regulations allow gift credit for tickets purchased as a part of a series, but not tickets purchased singly.
• Return your ticket to the box office any time prior to the show and it will be offered to a student free of charge.
• Give or sell your ticket to someone else.
I lost my tickets or my tickets never arrived in the mail. What should I do?
Call the campus box office at 765-494-3933 if your tickets are lost or misplaced, or if they never arrived. Duplicate tickets can be printed in most circumstances.
Do you offer discounts on tickets?
We do occasionally offer special discounts on tickets. The best way to find out about them is to sign up for our email list. Discounts are also available for groups of 10 or more for most performances.
What is Will Call?
“Will Call” is the term used for tickets that are paid for in advance and held at the box office to be picked up. Tickets that are ordered by phone or internet within ten days of the event will be held at the box office for pick up.
When do tickets go on sale?
All tickets for regular season performances are on sale now through campus box offices at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. During the advanced sales period (May 9 - August 8, 2008), ticket orders will be taken, but patrons will not be able to choose exact seats. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster on August 11, 2008.
Tickets for special events added later in the season, such as Student Concert Committee shows, have separate “on-sale” dates. Check the show’s web page for details.
How many tickets can I buy with my Purdue or Ivy Tech Lafayette student ID?
You may purchase two student tickets with your student ID, but those tickets must be for students. Non-students may not use student tickets.
Can I bring my child to the show? Do I have to buy a ticket for a child on my lap?
While we encourage early introduction to the arts, we also wish to provide the best environment for all of our patrons. Children of all ages are welcome to Family Adventures shows. We request that children under 6 years of age not be brought to most performances, and infants on laps are only permitted at Family Adventures shows. All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
How should I determine the age appropriateness of a performance for my child?
We provide recommended ages for selected shows that are appropriate for families on the individual show pages of our web site. If you have further questions about a show’s content or age appropriateness, call the Purdue Convocations office at 765-494-9712. Staff members can provide more information; however, you are ultimately responsible for deciding whether a show’s content is appropriate for you and your family.
What time do the doors open before a performance?
Doors generally open 30 minutes prior to show time.
What if I’m late for the show?
Please allow plenty of time to arrive at all performances. As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, we cannot immediately seat patrons who arrive after the beginning of the performance. Latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance, as determined by the artists.
Can I photograph or record the show?
The use of cameras, cell-phone cameras, video cameras and recording equipment of any kind are prohibited unless by special permission of Convocations and the artists. Flash photography is prohibited at all times.
What should I wear to the performance?
There is no dress code for Purdue Convocations performances. You are welcome to come as you like. Patrons generally dress in casual or business casual attire.
Can I bring my cell phone or pager into the theater?
Yes, but please remember to turn off or silence all electronic devices before the performance begins.
Other neighborly considerations
We want everyone to share in the enjoyment of the performance, and we seek your help in respecting the needs of others. While we realize coughing can be unavoidable, please try to minimize coughing or excuse yourself into the lobby. Unwrap any lozenges or candy before the performance begins. Also, many people are highly allergic to perfume and cologne, and we ask that our patrons take that into consideration.
