Little more than a decade ago, João Luiz and Douglas Lora met as teenage guitar students in São Paulo. Today, with critically acclaimed recordings and full touring schedules on two continents, the duo is quickly solidifying its status as one of the preeminent guitar duos of its generation. Winners of the 2006 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, these masterful musicians have perfected a sublime synchronicity and effortless performance style and are equally at home with lush classical guitar duos by Bach, Sor, and Scarlatti as well as the more percussive and rhythmic samba, choro, and baião of their native land. In their hands, the connections between the counterpoint of Bach and the fluid rhythms of Brasil become apparent with startling, breezy freshness.
