After an enthusiastic response to his January 2008 program titled The Power and Passion of Beethoven, the distinguished pianist Jeffrey Siegel returns to Purdue for an encore performance. A conductor and soloist who has appeared with many of the world’s great orchestras, Siegel lends his artistry and experience to his Keyboard Conversations—informal, interactive, and entertaining events that feature Siegel’s lively commentary and engaging insights on each work that he performs. For this program, Siegel will present well-loved classics by beloved American composers, including a rarely heard solo version of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” Aaron Copland’s humorous “The Cat and the Mouse,” plus some lesser-known gems, including the Purdue premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s unpublished “Meditation on a Wedding.”
