The Purdue Stable Isotope (PSI) facility is a state-of-the-art multi-user, stable isotope laboratory housed in the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department at Purdue University. PSI is co-directed by PCCRC faculty Tim Filley, Gabe Bowen, Greg Michalski, and Yuch Ning Shieh. Together with their students and collaborators from Purdue and beyond, the PSI group conducts research in a range of climate and environmental- related areas, including biogeochemistry, hydrology, ecology, and paleoclimatology. More information on PSI climate-related research projects can be found here and on the sites of the individual PSI directors.

The Airborne Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (ALAR) is a collaborative effort between Purdue, Washington State University, Ohio State, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The objectives are to develop a light aircraft platform to be used for measurement of fluxes of gases between the biosphere and the atmosphere. A primary hypothesis being pursued as part of this effort is that deposition of atmospheric nitrogen will significantly impact uptake of CO2 in forest environments.
