Appointment Scheduling
Call (765) 494-6995 to schedule a TAP appointment today!
Triage Assessment Process (TAP)
Initial contact with CAPS begins with a 15 minute telephone triage consultation with a senior therapist. Call (765) 494-6995 or stop by one of our main locations anytime during regular business hours to have our front office staff schedule the consultation. Most of the time a student will speak with a therapist that same day, or within 24 hours, their schedule permitting.
Triage calls take place Monday through Friday during convenient morning and afternoon time blocks.
The therapist will gather information to quickly assess urgency and risk, and facilitate matching of services based on individual need. The therapist will discuss therapeutic options and resources available based on issues discussed during the call.
Depending on the severity of issues involved, the therapist may:
- suggest you speak with the on-call therapist immediately
- suggest a personal intake appointment within 24-72 hours
- suggest a future intake within a short timeframe based on availability
- suggest alternative resources on campus or in the community
If you already have an intake scheduled, follow this link to Intake Forms.
On-Call Emergencies
Call 911 if your crisis is life threatening.
- Ask to speak to the Purdue Police CIT Officer.
Call CAPS at (765) 494-6995 for non-life threatening crisis situations.
Inform the front office staff of your situation. The front office staff will respond by either:
- directing you to come into the CAPS office
- routing your call to the on-call therapist
- or scheduling a time for you to speak with a senior therapist
