Creating OCEs
Below are instructions for creating OCEs in BRIO. If you are needing to access DSS or ODS FIN, these OCEs have already been created and can be downloaded from the web.
Instructions for Creating and Saving OCEs in Brio
Open Brio
From the TOOLs menu, select CONNECTION and CREATE

Indicate the type of Connection Software (NOTE: if you are connecting to data on an ORACLE database then you should probably select SQL NET for Windows NT).
Indicate the Type of Database you are connecting to (i.e. Oracle 8/9).
When the above data has been entered, select NEXT.

Enter your username and password for the data source.
Enter the host of the database (NOTE: For DSS use DSS, for ODS use WSODS. If unsure, contact the systems technical support).
Select NEXT.

Select FINISH.

Select YES.

Enter the desired name for your OCE and select SAVE. If you are able to save to your Open Catalog Extensions folder, you have now completed this ?process. If you are unable to save in the Open Catalog Extensions folder, you will need to save the ?OCE to your personal subdirectory by following the additional steps below.
Click the drop-down arrow next to Save in: and choose your personal subdirectory then click Save.

Now that you have saved your OCE to your personal subdirectory, you will need to point Brio to use the OCE from this new location instead of using the OCE from the Open Catalog Extension folder. In Brio, select the Tools Menu, then select Options and Program Options

Select the File Locations tab on the Brio Intelligence Options dialog box, then click the Browse button next to Connections Directory. You will need to browse to your personal subdirectory where you saved the OCE.

Select the appropriate subdirectory, then click OK.

To accept this change, click OK on the Brio Intelligence Options dialog box. You will now be able to run queries against this OCE from its new location.
