Travel Office: Expenses for Travel Stalled by Volcanic Ash May Be Reimbursable - 04/20/10
Additional travel expenses resulting from flight delays caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud may be allowable and reimbursable with proper fiscal and programmatic approvals, according to the Purdue Travel Office.
The massive ash cloud across much of Europe continues to cause severe transport disruptions. Although many airports abroad remain closed, European transport officials on Monday took steps to resume commercial air traffic on a limited basis. More flights are expected to resume today, but travelers should be aware that flights could be allowed or canceled on short notice.
Please contact the University Travel Office for more information about expense reimbursements, such as such as hotel, per diem and flight exchange fees.
More information about the volcanic ash travel disruption is available on the U.S. Department of State Web site.
