NIH Changes Policy on Resubmission Applications - 11/11/08
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has changed its existing policy on resubmission (-A1, -A2) applications. Therefore, beginning with original new and competing renewal applications submitted after Jan. 25, 2009, the NIH will accept only a single amendment to the original.
Applicants who fail to receive funding after two submissions -- original and single amendment -- may submit a new application, but it should be substantially different in content and scope, according to NIH.
New and competing renewal applications submitted prior to Jan. 25, 2009, will be “grandfathered” to allow two amendments. No A2 applications may be submitted after Jan. 7, 2011.
The entire NIH notice can be accessed through the NIH Web site. Please share this information with faculty as needed.
