Business Explorer Tab Added to SAP Portal - 04/24/12

The Business Services Reporting Team introduces the new Business Explorer tab in the SAP Portal to give super and power users the capability of sharing non-standard BEx queries with each other as well as with end users.

Demo Scheduled
for Super and Power Users

An open demonstration on the functionality of the Business Explorer tab is scheduled for super and power users:
9:30-10:30 a.m.
Friday, May 4
STEW 214A/B

The demonstration will navigate through the functionality of the Business Explorer tab. Attendees are urged to bring their own copies of the QRCs.

Registration is not required.

Because end users have only the functionality of executing a query link, they won’t need the BEx querying tool to execute a link in the Business Explorer tab. However, end users will be able to navigate to the new tab to execute the query, but only after a super or power user creates an ad hoc query to share with them and contacts the Business Services Reporting team to create a link to the query in the Business Explorer tab.

Additional roles are not required to see the tab. Super and power users are automatically assigned the tab with their super and power user role. End users who are able to execute standard queries through the SAP portal will be able to execute queries through the Business Explorer tab. End users with the display roles (FM_800_000_DISPLAY, GM_800_000_DISPLAY, SM_800_000_REPORTING) will automatically be assigned the tab.

Super and power users can share an ad hoc query created in BEx Query Designer with another power or end user through the Business Explorer tab. To share a Y query through the tab, the BEx query must be converted to a Z query. Refer to Requesting a Query Link process, located on the Business Systems Reporting website.

Super and power users can create query links for Y queries, but other power or end users are not able to execute the query. It must be saved as a Z query to be available to all user groups.
