HR Clarifies Bereavement Policy - 02/15/11
Human Resources reminds staff that when a regular, biweekly paid employee uses bereavement leave, it is important to record the hours of leave correctly, according to the University’s Paid Bereavement Leave Policy.
As the policy states, one workday of leave equals the number of hours the employee was scheduled to work on the day of the leave, excluding overtime. For example, an employee who works four 10-hour days should be paid for 10 hours of bereavement time, if using bereavement leave on a scheduled workday.
Questions about the bereavement policy may be directed to Gayla Ruark, leaves administrator for Human Resources, by email at email@example.com or by phone at 494-6705.
