Payroll Promotes Direct Deposit for Entire University Workforce - 06/30/09
With the goal of a 100 percent paperless payroll, the University’s Payroll Department is launching an effort this week to inform Purdue staff and faculty about the conveniences, safety, reliability and flexibility of electronic direct deposit.
In the coming weeks, the department will provide information about direct deposit to those employees who still prefer conventional paper checks on payday. Payroll hopes the positive emphasis on the benefits of direct deposit will encourage them to make the switch.
Enrolling is quick and easy, said Mary Alexander-Conte, assistant comptroller, Payroll and Taxes. It can be accomplished online via Employee Self Service (ESS) or by filling out a Form 0003, Direct Deposit Authorization.
Payroll is looking to supervisors to assist their staff members who need to sign up for automatic direct deposit. Newly hired University personnel learn about direct deposit during their New Employee Orientation class, where they authorize it via ESS.
ESS is accessible by logging into the OnePurdue Portal with a Purdue Career Account and password. Several University Web sites, including the Purdue home page, provide Portal entry points. The Form 0003, Direct Deposit Authorization is available from business offices and supervisors and can be downloaded from the Payroll Department Web site.
