HR Reminds Business Offices to Verify Salary on PA Form - 01/13/11
Rebalanced salaries for eligible employees are complete in SAP. Thus, the Human Resources Service Center urges business office staff who prepare and submit Personnel Action (PA) forms to review the salary changes on Info Type 8 (base pay screen) and the salary’s effective date.
Depending on the effective date of the action, submission of multiple PA forms may be necessary. Although there could be numerous scenarios that affect salary changes, following are three frequently encountered examples.
A pay change effective 8/16/10 may require two PA forms — the first PA form effective 8/16/10 with the appropriate salary and a second PA form effective 12/1/10 if the employee received a budget increase.
The HR Service Center will contact Staff Benefits to rebalance the December salary effective 1/1/11, if the employee is eligible. A third PA form is NOT required.
A pay change effective 12/1/10 was NOT updated in SAP during budget retraction; therefore, the salary was rebalanced effective 1/1/11 based on an incorrect salary. Submit one PA form effective 12/1/10 to implement the 2010-11 budget increase. The change in pay reason should be “Budget New Year.”
The HR Service Center will contact Staff Benefits to rebalance the December salary effective 1/1/11. A second PA form is NOT required.
A PA form for a salary change effective 1/1/11 must reflect the correct salary, including the rebalance amount, if appropriate. Attach prior approval documents for the salary increase to the PA form.
