Several Prioritized Projects Completed - 08/18/11
Business Systems committees which include Business Systems Operations and Planning, Business Systems Advisory, and Business Systems Steering report that several projects that held places on the Business Systems prioritized projects list reached 100 percent complete status in July.
One of the completed projects that affected a large number Purdue employees was the Payroll Deduction Project. Its establishment resulted from a growing interest in allowing areas across the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Calumet campuses to enter payroll deductions on behalf of their customers. To meet that interest, a team composed of Karen Ferry, Kim Campbell, Rick Miller and Amy Clawson created a standard process for requesting and creating new payroll deductions. Since the project’s completion, certain campus areas, such as the Ismail Center and CDFS Childcare, Purdue employees can opt to pay their fees via a payroll deduction. The new option offers wide-ranging possibilities for implementing the means to pay other campus-related service fees through payroll deduction.
Another project Open Purchase Order Summary Project that also affected a large number of Purdue staff resolved several issues on the report and added a number of enhancements. Some of the resolved issues are:
Fund search criteria have been corrected to return accurate results.
Line items that previously appeared in the report have been deleted.
Leading zeros were removed from data fields in report.
User can get to the PO in ME23N by double clicking on purchase order in report.
Among the enhancements added were a report layout section, a Retrieve Last Background Job checkbox and selection criteria fields for grants and assets. The team was composed of Cindi Stinebaugh, Brett Sutherlin and Dave Packard.
Additional recently completed projects are:
Finance Review of Security to Delete Parked Documents
Update Benefits Configuration / NP
Fix Personnel Actions
Create View Only SRM Role
On Line W-2 capability - Phase 1: Reprints
Details about the project prioritization process are available in the Request and Prioritization Process document posted to the Business Systems Advisory Committee website. Updated prioritized project lists are posted to the BSAC site monthly.
